Computer Tip...
I am always one of those people who goes by military time and Standard time just annoys me. My desktop has the little clock display that always displays standard time and I learned how to change that just now so thought maybe someone else would appreciate it as well.
To change your time/display to Military time take the following steps. Click Start, Control Panel, Open up 'Regional and Language Options', Next click 'Customize', in the next window, Click Time, go down to Time Format and scroll down to "H:mm:ss"..Done. You've change the time to Military standard time.
If you want to add a fun little thing to it after you have clicked on it. Click your mouse pointer just before the H and type in something fun, like the word Cool or anything you want but type it like this 'Cool' and hit the space bar. Now just click apply, and ok, and click ok again and you're done. Voila! Isn't that nifty as shit?
Saturday...
Saturday I was assigned to work 1600 to 0000, on Duty with me was MP, who I previously mentioned in an earlier posting. I was relieved for a restroom break and in under 5minutes all hell broke loose.
When I returned he was on the phone and had taken over the office for some reason, and failed to let me know what was going on. His comment was "just some fire thing" sounds incedibly detailed doesn't it? Working in Security/Surveillance, first thing you do is look to your cameras, verify locations and INFORM THE PEOPLE YOU WORK WITH!!
He later informed me that a water line has broke at a seperate facility, but had been repaired, however, they needed someone there to confirm the incident and the repair which meant waking up some people that are paid way too much money to be bothered in the middle of the night on a Saturday. These guys are salary, big wigs! You don't make a huge fuck up/mistake and call these people!
Turns out what actually happened was that the idiot, MP, didn't verify the location, there was a water leak or line break whatever the hell it was...it was on 20th street. Our facility is on 26th. He didn't even verify the location so the facility that had the issue didn't even belong to us!! He called all of these people for nothing!!
Icing on the cake was the one of the guys who called and chewed my ass out over this other guys mistake, wanted confirmation that all facilities were secure, and one guy wouldnt even answer the phone at one of our facilities! My boss had to drive to the facility to confirm that the facility was secure. The guy forgot his cell phone at home too, I know, I spoke with his MOTHER!
My boss later came to our facility here, and she was inebriated which confused me. I'm not sure why she was here if she had been drinking, seriously folks, if you've been drinking just stay home.
The idiot, MP, wrote up a report over the incident, I didn't get to see it until Tuesday when I came back in. He lied and said the Fire Dept. gave him the wrong location...wrong. They told him it was 20th street, not 26th. He wouldn't listen to me or even look at a fuckin camera on screen. Pardon language.
In the end the lesson is, some assholes will get away with absolutely everything despite your best efforts. Incidents like these show you who yuo can really count on in an emergency situation. If this building is on fire, I'm running and I'm not even worrying about him. I doubt he would know the proper procedures anyway and he clearly doesn't care enough about this company or facility to know the goddamn addresses.
